Shrine Pass and Breckenridge

A few weekends ago we headed up towards Vail Pass for a hike. It was an awesome hike! We are planning on doing it again real soon! Absolutely stunning views and a great time as a family out enjoying Gods creation. It was really muddy, we crossed over some snow banks and crossed a glacier near the top but it was all worth it! Next time we will wear our boots though. After our hike we headed into Breckenridge to hang out for a while and relax before heading home. It was like a little mini vacation!

These photo's don't do it justice for the views

Random phone photo's

I know I've been slacking on keeping up with blog posts and posting pictures so here are some random ones from my phone, they aren't all great quality but I love them all the same!

The next four photo's are from our bike ride in Leadville on the 4th of July
Ethan was really upset that I was keeping him from running around and exploring but I love it

Ethan begging for more berries during our traditional Geurts family 4th of July strawberry shortcake

A few months back Ethan got sick from eating pineapple. I know it's odd but the we've found out he has an allergy to pineapple. Poor little man was so tired he fell asleep in his highchair after a little snack and pedialyte

Ethan discovered that when he's done playing in his sand box it's a lot of fun to help mom pull weeds and dig in the dirt! (photo is prob 2months old)

Ethan showing us his first skinned knee about a month and a half ago. Yup running can be kinda tricky

Playing at the park

Enjoying sharing a friday afternoon celebratory milkshake with Dada

Being silly during lunch and playing peak a boo

Ethan has been doing this for a few months now but I just think its really cute. He lines up his cars that he drives around when he's done and parks them in a row.

Ethan snagged a piece of fruit off of the stand at the grocery store while I wasn't looking and took a huge bite.
This boy loves his fruit!

Father's Day Weekend Epic Camping Fail

For us summer = camping, although our style of camping has changed quite a bit. We started out the days of backpacking just Andy and I, very materialistic calculating how much weight we were packing and finding the smallest and easiest gear to pack. Now it's a bit more take whatever we can fit into the car type of camping.

We took Ethan camping last summer when he was 6months old and he loved it and did great! This year we thought we'd try it for Father's Day weekend. We went out and got some new gear (because that is always fun) and headed out early Friday afternoon for Lost Creek Campgrounds with the whole family (including Buster) and a full car. We were excited and ready for a fun weekend camping. We got to the campgrounds scooped out the site and got all of our gear set up. Ethan had a ton of fun walking around exploring the camp site, getting dirty, playing in the tent and sitting by the campfire. However, when it came time to go to bed he was not all about it to say the least. He had a huge fit and just wanted to go home to his own bed. We finally got him to sleep after quite a while. Around midnight he woke up screaming, he was scared and not happy that he wasn't in his bed. I think he was really confused and scared. Any how, I ended driving him home in the middle of the night to sleep in his crib and drove back and picked up Andy, Buster and our stuff in the morning.

All in all it was a failed father's day camping trip. From now on we'll just do day trips to the mountains, Ethan loves the mountains as long as he gets to sleep in his own bed at night. When he's a bit older and we can explain to him what camping is and that it includes sleeping outside in a cool tent we'll try it again.

Ethan had fun learning how to warm up his hands by the fire with Dad, when Andy would say 'warmin' up the hands' Ethan would rub his hands together. He loves learning from his Dad

Ethan decided it would be fun to climb onto of Buster and ride him. Buster didn't love it but endured it all the same.

This was Ethan as he got tired and bedtime approached. It was as if he's thinking 'alright guys this has been a lot of fun but I'm getting tired, lets go home now'.

Here are some photo's from the rest of the weekend that was a lot of fun!

Bubbles and a picnic dinner at Observatory Park Saturday
Running the bases

Building towers with Dad (Ethan built the tower bit all on his own)

Fun times at City Park on Sunday

Thank you to Andy for being such a wonderful and amazing Dad to Ethan; we couldn't ask for anything more!
