3 months

Ethan is 3 months old already! It truly is amazing how quickly he's growing and how big he is getting. He weighs 10 lbs 10.5 oz now which is up a whole 1 lbs 7 oz from last month and he is measuring almost 25in long which in up 3in from last month. Our little Mr E is really growing fast these days; he is still really lean but his legs are starting to get a little pudgy. He's sleeping really well at night and will even sleep through the night about half of the time.

Ethan LOVES to stand more than ever (with some help balancing) and is really good at it, his legs are so strong it's incredible. He still doesn't like tummy time very much but he will tolerate it. He's really alert and is interested in check everything out, he's definitely an observer. And the faces he makes while we play are priceless. Ethan is really into his hands these days; he loves playing with them and more than anything putting them in his mouth. Spit bubbles are in great supply around our house these days as well since Ethan has mastered this new trick.

Ethan really likes watching cars go by with daddy, they'll watch them out the front window and Ethan follows them as they pass by. It's really cute, when there isn't a car for a bit Ethan will get a concerned look on his face and look back and forth making little noises like 'hey where are they?'

Ethan has also started batting at toys and grabbing onto things, mostly soft things that feel nice near his face, blankets etc. He discovered he could hold onto his monkey and play with it the other day. Check out those lips on our little Mr. E!

Playing in the Grass

I'm so glad summer is here. Ethan and I played out in the grass for a while the other day in the nice warm sun, and he loved it! We got to try out his fun new summer hat and it worked perfectly to keep that sun out of Ethan's eyes!

When we first sat down Ethan took a few minutes to take in all of the new textures and sights.

Ethan was having a ton on fun playing in the grass and got all excited about grabbing the camera strap

Happy Birthday!

This past weekend was a very important one; Andy turned 26! We made it a full birthday weekend to celebrate properly. We started off friday night with homemade Chicken Tikka Masala. It was my first time making curry but Ethan thought we ought to try to make it for dad because it's one of his favorites. It actually turned out pretty good, a little on the extra spicy side, but we enjoyed it none the less and will have to try it again  (with a little less spice). On saturday night we had our families over for a BBQ and had a great time together! It's always fun to get to hang out, throw some stuff on the grill, and relax with our families. We had Andy's special double layered coconut cream cake with everyone and even had enough left for him to have some this week in his lunch. Andy decided that I should only make coconut cream cake for him on his birthday because then it can be a special birthday treat; although he quickly decided that he'd probably regret saying that.

On sunday, Andy's actual birthday, we headed down to Colorado Springs for a wee adventure. We visited Garden of the Gods and walked around to check out all of the amazing rocks. The weather was beautiful while we were there, sunny and warm; Ethan even got to try out his cool new shades. After lunch we headed over to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for the rest of the afternoon to see the animals.

The boys loved checking out the animals together

Happy late birthday Andy, we love you tons! Thanks for being the amazing husband and dad that you are and for always making us smile. Ethan and I are two very lucky people!

Sleepy Mr. Ethan

Ethan sleeps really well at night and has been sleeping for much longer at a time, he even sleeps through the night sometimes. He is also a really happy little guy in the mornings, full of smiles. Yesterday he got up really early but still seemed tired so I brought him back to bed with me for a bit and he fell right back asleep. I guess sometimes as a little one you just need cuddles in mom and dad's bed.

He was so cute when I got up I had to take a few pictures.

and this is what I found when I went in to get Ethan out of his crib this morning

Mother's Day

I had a fabulous first mothers day! I am definitely one lucky momma! We had a really nice relaxing morning  playing with Ethan and cuddling then we headed up to boulder for a little hike. It was our first hike with Ethan and it was great; very short but beautiful and great to spend sometime in the mountains as a family. We walked along the boulder creek trail for a bit after before we headed to an old favorite place for dinner, The Boulder Cafe. Andy and Ethan were so thoughtful and wonderful and got me a fabulous gift for mothers day. They got me a gift certificate to a really nice near by spa so I can go get a massage and pampered. Andy said part of Ethan's gift was that he'd be really good while dad watched him and part of Andy's gift was he'd watch Ethan while I go to use my gift certificate. :)

Andy and I were talking the other night about all the things that have surprised us most about being parents. I've thought about it a lot the last few days and one of the things that have stood out most was how much love I instantly had for Ethan and how incredibly connected I feel to him. I would do anything for him. Becoming a mom has been a pure true joy and given me a new sense of purpose in life.

I am very thankful that I get to be Ethan's mom
I'm thankful that I got to go through a healthy pregnancy and natural child birth with Ethan

the day Ethan was born

I am thankful to Ethan for making me a mom and to Andy for making it so I get to be a stay-at-home mom
I am thankful I get to teach Ethan new things and about the world
I am thankful Ethan teaches me new things and how to be a mom

I'm thankful for all of Ethan's adorable smiles

Earth Day

Ethan and I celebrated Earth Day this year by visiting the Botanical Gardens. It actually rained most of the day but we found a window of good weather in the afternoon to go. The flowers that were in bloom were beautiful! Ethan was pretty sleepy but woke up every now and again during our trip to check out the flowers. We had a lovely time at the gardens celebrating earth day!

Stiletto

I got a blogging award! I got it from Shannon - the Shaklee Journal. I've really enjoyed blogging through our pregnancy with Ethan and now getting to share what our little guy is up to with friends and family. I
m looking forward to the many more adventures we'll have to blog about. Andy and I have also enjoyed getting to look back through our journey at where we've been in the last year. I'm glad people read our little blog and enjoy it. Thanks Shan!

WHAT IS A STILETTO AWARD???

There are thousands of blogs, and there are hundreds of awards. The Stiletto Award is a little different than most!

The Stiletto Award Is For Excellence in Blogging!
I want to salute the women who balance life, family & relationships with style & class! Those women who share their experiences with us…who encourage us, inspire us, teach us, make us laugh and basically keep us going! You know who they are! While you read this blog, your family is looking at you wondering what the heck you are laughing about so hard…or why the tissue is necessary for internet browsing. It’s the one that the kids are excited about cuz a new post means a new craft project or family outing. The one that inspires you to be a better mom, friend, person in general. The one that reminds you that we are all “in this life together” and you’re not the only one going through the hard stuff. The one that you secretly wish your blog was like…

If you’ve received this award, someone out there thinks you deserve it! Be proud! Display the badge with honor! You earned it…after all it means that you brought something special to at least one other person, and really, isn’t that what life’s all about????

THE RULES!

This blog is meant to be shared, to be given out, to be bestowed upon any and ALL women who exemplify what the stiletto represents. If you’ve received this award, here’s what you do:
1. DISPLAY your Stiletto Badge of Honor on your sidebar! Wear it with pride!
 2. BRAG ABOUT IT
3. SAY THANKS
4. SHARE THE LOVE
5. DO WHAT YOU DO...keep at it. Keep inspiring and encouraging and sharing your life! We love it and we thank you!!!

A few weeks ago Ethan got a very special and exciting piece of mail. A congratulations card from The White House and more specifically President and First Lady Obama! The card has the official White House seal on it and the President and First Lady's signatures, and it even came in a hand addressed envelope.

The card reads:
