Last saturday Ethan took his first steps! He is really is growing up so quickly, he isn't my little baby anymore, we have a toddler! It was so exciting to watch such a big moment, I was ridiculously excited and proud of my little man and glad that Andy got to be there for it as well as Grandma Pultorak some aunts and uncle Mike. We were at the park just hanging out, Ethan and Andy were walking around together looking at things. I thought he was holding Andy's hand because he was walking so well but then I saw the look on Andy's face and realized he was doing it all on his own!!! He was so cute toddling along, he didn't freak out or fall either he just stopped and grabbed onto the playground equipment. He took a few steps on his own a couple of other times for us while we were at the playground which was col to watch.
There must have been something about the park and the day or something because Ethan hasn't been interested in waling since. Andy and I have tried to get him to walk from one to the other but it's more like a controlled fall. I think he is a bit caution because falling on wood floors doesn't feel very good. I know he'll decide to walk again randomly like when we were at the park. I'm proud of him and know he can do it when he decides to, for now crawling is just too efficient.

1 Year
Our little man is growing up so quickly, he really is seeming like a toddler now instead of my little baby. It has been an amazing year with so much development changes and learning. There's been more love, joy and excitement than I can express as we've watched Ethan discover the world around him and grown as our little family.
Ethan is a very busy guy these days, especially at home! There is no holding still (which makes taking photo's quite a bit more difficult). He is loving how mobile he is, he is crazy fast at crawling and climbing around on everything. He climbs through the bottom of the coffee table, kitchen chairs , and all sorts of things. He stands on his own really well now, although he doesn't really care about doing it. He loves playing chase around the house; he will crawl away in hyper speed and then stop giggle and turn around to make sure you're close behind him and then take off again until he stops to let you catch him and let out all sorts of squeals and giggles. Ethan loves to initiate playing a good round or 100 of peak-a-boo.
He is a great help with laundry, mostly because he makes it fun and makes me laugh. He loves to stand up and fall into a pile of cloths, hide his face in the cloths and then do it all over again until he decides to put them on his head or throw them around a bit. He is in love with things that make noise these days like bells, shakers, etc. He kneels on his knees or stands and shakes things by his ear and bounces his cute little bum around. He is a lot more quiet out in public and loves watching everyone else and taking it all in. I can tell that he is just trying to figure it all out, he is so pensive and focused on his surroundings when we're out. I know it sounds silly to say a 1yr old is pensive but I think he is.
As far as eating goes he's still doing great with it. Ethan has a very healthy appetite and eats loads, and like always he burns it all off really quickly as well. All that food he eats, then burns off has him weighing 16lb 5.5oz. He's a great eater and really likes things with a lot of flavor to them. He is loving having teeth and getting to chomp on things. On the topic of teeth he now has 5; he got the latest two on the top on his birthday weekend. Ethan is getting a bit more picky about what he eats and will let us know he doesn't want it. He is very clear about it, he will hold it over the edge of his tray for a few seconds then drop it.
On the sleeping front Ethan is doing great at night and usually sleeps from 8pm -7or 8am. For naps we do one nap mid day and it will usually last for about 2hours. He would much rather sleep for only long stretch than have two shorter naps which works fine for me and he seems to get much better rest this way. He is learning to put himself to sleep and is dong really well with it. We still rock and have a story or two but he falls asleep in his crib all on his own now (most the time). We have been slowly working on it and I'm really proud of him. He has gotten over his dislike of being put in his crib and having to have me rock him to sleep.
Ethan's communication skills are coming right along. He is getting pretty good at letting us know what he wants/needs. He says da and nom, which Andy and I love, and he will say ba and crawl to the bathroom when he's decided he want's a bath (still a favorite time of the day for Ethan). I love that he is understanding what we say to him and that he responds with a big YA a lot of times. He also has learned to wave and sometimes uses both hands when he is really excited about it.
Ethan has been especially sweet and cuddly lately which I am absolutely loving . He loves to give big kisses and will grab our faces and pull us in for a big long full face pushed up against each other kiss and doesn't let go until he is good and done. He will also put his arms around our neck and squeezes giving a big hug. A lot of times out of the blue he'll crawl over climb up on us and start kissing away. Ethan is definitely a lover!!! When I get him up in the morning or after a nap he always gives me huge cuddles and kisses. Ethan's cuddles/kisses are the best thing in the entire world!!

Birthday Day!
Sunday was Ethan's actual birthday and we had a full day of celebrating! We love Ethan so much and had had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday! Thank you to Ethan for making us parents and being the best son and addition to our little family we could ask for!
We started the day out at Monkey Biz and had some fun playing, Ethan even found a piano to try to serenade a girl he was playing with.
We built up a pretty big appetite with all that playing so we went to Snooze for some yummy breakfast!
Ethan loved playing with all of his new toys and being silly with Daddy
After a nap we went to the Museum of Nature and Science to play for a little while and check out the atrium
Cake Time! Ethan got to have birthday cake and happy birthday sung to him twice, he loved it even more the second time around.
