A New Love

Ethan has become really interested in food lately he's been trying to stick his hands in anything we eat and try it. So we decided to get some rice cereal for him to try and he absolutely LOVED IT! He can't get enough of the stuff. He kept leaning forward almost out of his chair to get more and lunging towards the spoon as we were feeding him. I couldn't get the cereal on the spoon and to his mouth fast enough for him. He has had it four nights in a row for dinner now and he's supper excited about it each time. And he eats a ton of it, I've even made second helpings for him. It's a lot of fun watching him discover how to eat and new textures and flavors. Ethan totally had the eating, and actually swallowing, food thing figured out. Maybe we'll get some of this stuff to stick to our little man's ribs. :)
After he finishd his very first meal of rice cereal - he was one happy boy!

Disappointed that there wasn't any more cereal... so I made him a second helping

5 Months

Our little man is getting big! Ethan is already 5 months old as of last week. Time really is flying by and he is doing all sorts of new baby things.

Ethan is laughing pretty regularly now at and making all sorts of great new noises as he talks to us. He's also figured out that he can just call out to us. Instead of crying he very calmly moans until I go get him. It's like he's saying ' hello... mom... mom... mom.... I want to get up now... mom...".

Ethan is starting to sit, mostly with a little help but he is starting to figure it out and he can balance on his own for a short bit. He's really excited to sit and be able to get to more things.

He's really anxious to me mobile. He hasn't figured out crawling or anything yet. But he tries to dive for things that are just out of his reach, he'll lean as far as he can to grab things and will roll to get to toys etc. He also wiggles and some how turns himself 180 degrees or so on his back while he's playing to get to different toys.

He's really getting interested in food! He wants to stick his hands in our food and is increasingly interested in what we're eating. He's wanting to try more and more things in his mouth. He loves sucking on different things and exploring new flavors.

We may have an outdoor adventure kid on our hands. He loves sucking on the mouth piece for our camelback. He's not a fan of bottles or pacifiers but loves the camelback.

He is growing tons, he's at 12 lbs 5.5oz and is still long and lean. He's wearing a lot of 6mo onsies, the fit great length wise but are still baggy in the chest. Although in pants he's in 3mo. Long torso - short legs I guess.

Everyday he does something new that just amazes us. He is growing so quickly and it's an absolute delight to watch as he learns new things he can do and all about the world around him. We are so proud of Ethan and love our little man!

Ethan's First Big Laugh

Look Who's Laughing Now

Ethan has started to laugh and I love it. This video is from my phone so it's not great quality but you can still hear his little laugh! I'm trying to upload another video of the first time he laughed like this. He doesn't laugh out loud very often but I love it when he does.

Ethan's First 14er

In celebration of the 4th of July weekend we decided to be tourists and drive to the top of Pikes Peak! It was incredible! It's so beautiful up there and just amazing views. The drive up  was a lot of fun; it's crazy how quickly you gain elevation. It was Ethan's first 14er and he did great! Here are some of the fun photo's we got at the top.

Sunday Picnic

Last sunday we had a picnic at Cheesman Park. It was a lovely day in the shade (way too hot in the sun though) Ethan even laid down and took a little nap while we were there and Andy and I got to read our books. Here are a few photo's of our little man after lunch.

Date Night

Date nights used to happen on a whim and weren't really date nights, it was just going to grab something to eat or a movie etc. Now they are planned out well in advance and we really looked forward them. We went out to dinner the our first two nights out then went to see Toy Story 3 last night, which is a great movie, adorable and worth going to see for sure!

It's been so great to get out just the two of us, spend some time together and connect. It's also nice to have a bit of a break and a moment of adult time. We both look forward to date night and have decided that's it's something that we want to keep up as Ethan grows up and we know it'll be good for us. We love to get away just the two of us and we try to not just talk about baby stuff the whole time but inevitably we talk about Ethan and how much we love him. We start to miss him quickly and can't wait to get back home to our Mr. E.

Grandpa Geurts has been coming over and staying with Ethan while we go out. We were worried how he'd do when we left but I think we had a harder time with it than Ethan did. Ethan and Grandpa were hanging out all relaxed watching cars from the front porch when we got home last night. They have a good time hanging out together, Grandpa and Ethan enjoy it and we appreciate sure it!
