Mr. Long and Lean is 4 Months Old

Ethan is 4 months old already! He had a doctor's appointment wednesday and it went great. He's doing really well and growing, it seems as though he's put more of his energy into growing taller lately verses chunking up. He's 11lbs and 11oz -3rd percentile and 24 3/4" long -43rd percentile, long and lean. Ethan got another round of shots wednesday and he took it like a champ. He was so good and happy during the visit, I felt bad he had no idea what was coming. He definitely doesn't like shots, he gasped and then cried, I scooped him up quickly to give him a cuddle, then Andy took him and cuddled him close. Ethan calmed down and was just a little extra sleepy and cuddly the rest of the day but he did well.

Ethan is learning all sorts of tricks lately. He holds on to toys and will switch them from one hand to the other. His fine motor skills are getting a lot better and he's discovering new textures. He loves to play with Andy's face and feel his beard by grabbing his chin etc. Ethan holds on to everything these days, shirts, glasses, my neck (who knew I had extra skin there to grab) toy's, blankets, stuffed animals whatever is close. He has become even more interested in putting things into his mouth lately as well and sucking on everything. Ethan is starting to 'talk' more and babble which is a lot of fun. It's really cute and he gets all excited about it. He knows that it makes us happy and loves just chatting  and smiles at each other. He even laughed the other day, it was just a few giggles but it was absolutly adorable!! I love his laugh and can't wait to hear more of it!

We love our little man, he's growing up so quickly it's hard to believe but we are loving every minute of it all.

Ethan loves his toys that make a crinkle noise these days, especially his new book.

He has tried his Bumbo seat likes it quite a lot. He loves being able to look all around and have toys on his tray in front of him.

Father's Day

relaxing at the park friday afternoon

We had a great weekend celebrating Andy and his first father's day! Andy got to spend lots of time this weekend relaxing and playing with his little guy in the park which he loved. Ethan and I started sunday morning by making breakfast for dad and getting his gifts ready for him to open. We had bacon, eggs, crescent rolls, fruit smoothies and coffee. Ethan thought it'd be fun to get his dad a mug with photo's of him on it to take to work. So we made (ordered) a coffee mug with photo's of Ethan and some with Ethan and his daddy on it. We also got Andy a gift card to REI to go pick out a new tent. (We've out grown our little 2man tent, we need to upgrade tot he family tent). We went up for a hike in Golden Gate Canyon near Wendy Peak. It was a great hike and we even managed to avoid the rain that we thought was blowing in. Then we celebrated Father's Day with Andy's family at Texas Road House for dinner.

We are very thankful for Andy and the amazing  Dad that he is!

Ethan and I are thankful for how hard Andy works to support and provide for us. He always makes sure that we have everything we need and makes it so that Ethan and I get to be home together.

Andy is thoughtful and caring and always puts his families best interest first.

Andy is very hands on and an involved Dad and has been since the day we found out I was pregnant.

Andy has always come to doctor appointments, he changes diapers, reads stories, rocks to sleep, teaches Ethan things, plays with him, is involved in deciding what is best for Ethan, and most importantly loves him with all of his heart.

Andy can always make Ethan smile.

They love playing games together, watching cars singing silly songs and doing flying Ethan.

Andy is the best dad to Ethan. I could not ask for a better daddy for our little guy and Ethan could not be a luckier little guy to have Andy as his dad!

We love you Andy and are thankful for you everyday!

Welcome to the World Gavin David!!

On monday my best friend Shannon and her hubby Dusty welcomed their first little baby boy into the world. Gavin David Shaklee came four weeks early; June, 7 at 5:02pm 7lbs 15oz and 20 3/4" long. We could hardly believe it when we got the word from Shannon early monday morning that they were at the hospita and she was already in labor. We are extremely excited for Shannon and Dusty and their new little family of three. We know that they will be such amazing parents and that Gavin is an amazing blessing to them.

We went to visit Shannon, Dusty, and Gavin tuesday afternoon; it was so great to get to spend time with them and celebrate Gavin!! He is adorable, such a precious little baby!! You can already see so much of Dusty in him.

Ethan and Gavin are of course going to be best friends, we can't wait to watch them grow up together; they are going to be so cute together and have so much fun. It was really cool to get to have Ethan and Gavin together just a day after Gavin was born. Talk about friends from the beginning :)

A huge congratulations to Shannon, and Dusty!! You guys are guys are going to be amazing parents!! We are so glad we get to share this time in life with you guys! Lots of love!

Fun in the Sun

We enjoyed a lovely day at the zoo saturday then headed over to City Park to relax in the shade. It was so warm out Ethan got to play in the park in just his diaper and he loved it! He even had some 'naked baby in the park' time while he was getting his diaper changed. We took his diaper off and he started smiling so big and almost laughing, he was so happy!

Memorial Day Weekend

For Memorial Day we went on a family hike in Roxborough State Park. It was so nice out, it was great to get out and enjoy the weather. The trail we took was just about 2 miles and it was wide enough and easy enough that we took the BOB on it. It was nice to have him in the stroller, however it does make those little hills a bit more challenging. We found some benches along the trail under some trees and decided to take a short break.

Ethan's not much for looking at the camera for family photo's

He had tons of fun playing with dad in the shade!

3 months

Ethan is 3 months old already! It truly is amazing how quickly he's growing and how big he is getting. He weighs 10 lbs 10.5 oz now which is up a whole 1 lbs 7 oz from last month and he is measuring almost 25in long which in up 3in from last month. Our little Mr E is really growing fast these days; he is still really lean but his legs are starting to get a little pudgy. He's sleeping really well at night and will even sleep through the night about half of the time.

Ethan LOVES to stand more than ever (with some help balancing) and is really good at it, his legs are so strong it's incredible. He still doesn't like tummy time very much but he will tolerate it. He's really alert and is interested in check everything out, he's definitely an observer. And the faces he makes while we play are priceless. Ethan is really into his hands these days; he loves playing with them and more than anything putting them in his mouth. Spit bubbles are in great supply around our house these days as well since Ethan has mastered this new trick.

Ethan really likes watching cars go by with daddy, they'll watch them out the front window and Ethan follows them as they pass by. It's really cute, when there isn't a car for a bit Ethan will get a concerned look on his face and look back and forth making little noises like 'hey where are they?'

Ethan has also started batting at toys and grabbing onto things, mostly soft things that feel nice near his face, blankets etc. He discovered he could hold onto his monkey and play with it the other day. Check out those lips on our little Mr. E!
