19 & 20 Months

I know my post have become less frequent, this is not because of a lack of things going on with our family to share but because there is so much going on. Ethan is a busy guy and we are busy exploring and learning new things! Here are some of the things we've been up to.

19 & 20 Months
  • Lots of new words- we can tell he is really trying to say the words that he has understood for so long
    • some of the most recents - dino, bug, ov (glove), tigger (tiger)
    • said 'love you' to Buster -I've been trying to teach him 'love you' and of course he says it to the dog
    • growls like a lion and tiger
  • dare (there) as he points to what hurts and needs a kiss
  • will give us kisses if we say something hurts. He first confirms 'dare' and then gives us multiple kisses making his lips smack for each kiss. -one of my absolute favorite things right now!
  • bub-bull (bubble)-Ethan loves reading 'The Going to Bed Book' with dad on his ipad and knows how all the interactive parts work. Ethan loves the page where they take a bath because bubbles float around and he gets to pop them. He knows when the page is coming up and gets all excited saying bub-bull
  • Combines signs when asking for 'more please' and 'eat please' and said milk the other night when we didn't notice him signing it.
  • Walks around pretending to talk on our phones
  • Stops to smell flowers and blow on things that he thinks might be hot.
  • For the last several months Ethan has hated blankets, I mean real dislikes them, he has a fit anytime we try to put one on him(and he is awake). That is up until yesterday when watching football with daddy he voluntarily pulled some blankets over him and cuddled in them for a few minutes.
  • Knows where most all of his body parts are and will show us where to put his cloths, sock and shoes on feet etc.
  • The other night Ethan was wearing his new Batman pj's (thanks aunt Becca) and dad asked him where his batmobile was. Ethan smiled real big, pointed to his boy parts and proudly said 'dare'. I don't know where he got that from but because we laughed so hard he now thinks that's what it's called.
  • He will do anything for a laugh and loves being silly, he is such a big goofball and we love it! It sure makes like fun.
  • Wears our shoes around the house
  • Ethan is super coordinated and a great climber, he can climb up just about anything, and does
  • Has started to pretend he is a scary monster; he come up by us and growls and then laughs so hard when we act surprised or if we growl back at him.
  • Ethan  is infatuated with trucks of all sorts! He gets so excited we see any type of heavy equipment or trucks while we are out. He loves watching them work and just looking at them, he has left the playground because he saw and ambulance in the parking lot to go look at. Ethan has gotten to climb up inside a few because he was so patiently admiring them and waving to them when we're out.
  • Also loves trains (dad is very proud of this) Ethan is fascinated with watching trains and quite likes to ride them as well.
  • Has 5 new teeth for a total of 12 now
  • We had our first big snow of the year and Ethan loved playing in it! Once we figured out how to keep his 'ov' on it was even better! We spent most of our playtime outside running around.
  • Is such an outdoors kid! He loves being outside and is just like his dad, always ready to get out of the house and do something.
  • Ethan got to feed cows hay at the Littleton Historical Working Farm and had a blast, he wasn't scared in the slightest of the big cows. Also petted the horses while we were there as well.
  • Cleans up his toys when asked and sorts them as he puts them away in their place.
  • Brings us a diaper or wet wipes when he has needs a new one
  • Is loving discovering how things work! Like that he can turn the water on and off in the sink if he climbs up so he can reach it. He laughs so hard and loves learning how to do something new.
  • Learns a ton from watching what we do and I can tell he pays close attention to what we do throughout the day. Without prompting he will try to help with chores around the house and surprisingly knows how to do a lot of things or the general idea just from watching us.
Ethan is definitively a toddler and has his opinions about things but he is such a loving, happy and fun little guy. It is amazing how much he knows and it surprises us every day what he picks up on. Ethan is one smart little guy! I love getting to spend my days with him watching him grow and learn new things and he is definitely teaching me loads along the way.
