13 Months

Ethan is as busy as ever and into everything he can get his hands on and climb on or into. His recent new climbing endeavor was climbing into the bathtub. Once he climbed in he was so happy sitting there fully clothed sans water. He has climbed in a few other times when I'm getting the bath ready for him, he just loves his bath so much he can't wait for it. He is also LOVING playing with Buster, he chases him around the house, climbs on him, pulls his tail and is constantly looking for him calling for him saying 'da. I don't think Buster is loving it so much but he is really patient with Ethan.

Ethan is still working on walking. Well he's not really working on it. He can walk and he will do it from time to time but he really doesn't want to; crawling is just quicker, easier, and you don't fall. We've tried to trick him into walking but he's too smart for it. He knows that we are trying to get him to walk for us and has decided he'll do it when he wants to.

We have really noticed how smart Ethan is (of course being his parents we think so). He has us figured out on trying to get him to walk and isn't falling for our tricks. I noticed the other day when he hears the outer door open on the porch he moves away from the interior door, sits back a bit and watches the door waiting for Dad to come in. He plays follow the snack/toy hidden in a hand with dad and picks the right hand every time. He loves sharing with us, handing things back and forth and feeding us, he even shares his nap time bottle with me and gets the biggest smile on his face when he does.

On the eating front this month Ethan has decided that he no longer wants 'baby food', other than the squeeze food packets. He is way more interested in eating what mom and dad are eating and likes full flavor foods, he even was loving the spicy sausage in our pasta sauce last night. The big change in Ethan's diet this last month is that he decided he was done nursing. We had been down to once a day in the morning right when he woke up. About a week after his first birthday he just decided he wasn't interested any more. After a few times trying to bite and finding out that was not ok Ethan decided he was really done. I have to admit I was a bit sad but I am really glad that it wasn't a battle to ween and he quite in his own time. He is taking a bottle of milk now before bed and nap time which is great and I love having that quiet cuddle time back with Ethan.

Ethan loves getting out to play at the park and watching the ducks at the zoo.
Ducks happen to be his favorite animal at the zoo.

One day after stopping to visit Daddy at work we walked around the lake by his office and Ethan was fixated on watching all of the geese on the lake

He even waved to them all and shouted at them to come back when they flew away.

We love our little man and are having more and more fun with him everyday! Can't believe we get to be his parents.
